WHAT IS IRIDOLOGY?

"Iri" comes from the Greek name of the goddess of the rainbow, Iris. The Greeks noted eyes come in many colors. And "ology" also comes from Greek, meaning study of. Literally translated, iridology means the study of the coloration of the eye.

Iridology is the science of analyzing the delicate structures of the iris, the colored portion of the eye; as well as the sclera, the white part surrounding the iris. Iridology specializes in the relationship between diseases and the shape, color, signs and markings of the eye.

Under magnification, the eyes really ARE the window to the soul.


WHAT IRIDOLOGY CAN DO?

Iridology reveals the way we have built our bodies. Iridology can identify tissue integrity to show inherently weak or strong body organs. It can locate inflammation or degeneration in tissues to identify them as possible causes of physical complaints. Iridology can locate toxic material in an organ. Iridology can locate vitamin and mineral deficiencies which is helpful since toxic settlements and these deficiencies are often found together. When inherently weak organs are vitamin and mineral deficient, the tissues will not function well enough to throw off toxins.


WHAT IRIDOLOGY CANNOT DO

Iridology does not yield a diagnosis but presents an analysis of a person's health condition. Iridology cannot identify the kind of toxins in the body whether the deposit is catarrh, metabolic acid, heavy metals, drug residues, parasites, viruses or germ life, or a combination of these. Gallstones and kidney stones cannot be seen as no nerve supply is involved.


HOW DOES IT WORK?

The phenomenon of iridology may be explained through the fact that the eyes are the extensions of the human brain. The signals that come to the brain from all parts of the body come to the eyes through the nerve pathways and virtually show up in the iris.

The iris is the most complex tissue of the body meeting the outside world. It is an extension of the brain, being incredibly endowed with hundreds of thousands of nerve endings, microscopic blood vessels, muscle and other tissues.

The iris is connected to every organ and tissue of the body by way of the brain and nervous system. The nerve fibers receive their impulses by way of their connections to the optic nerve, optic thalami and spinal cord. Both sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems are present in the iris.

Bernard Jensen says that nature provides us with a miniature television screen showing the most remote portions of the body by way of nerve reflex responses. The eye works in two ways; it enables us to bring images of the outside world within, and also shows images of what is within the body to the outside world.

Iridology reveals itself in the character of the individual fibers themselves. Nerve fibers in the iris respond to changes in body tissues by manifesting a reflex physiology that corresponds to specific tissue changes and locations.


The Signs & Markings Iridologists Look For Include:

Color Variations: Do you know there are only two eye colors in the world today: blue & brown

Pigment Flecks: Shows genetically inherited weakness or lifestyle acquired issues

Fiber Variations: Lesions are open, lacunae are closed, and crypts are small, dark & dense marks

Radii Solaris: Function of the autonomic nervous system & toxic absorption in the colon

Nerve Rings: Excessive nervous tension & it affects the muscular and digestive systems

Scurf Rim: Under-active, slowly eliminating skin keeping toxins & metabolic waste trapped

Lymphatic Rosary: Lymph circulation slows so toxic elements & metabolic waste accumulates

Sodium Ring: Solid white ring circling the iris indicates a chemical imbalance e.g. fats/salt/calcium

Arcus Senilis: Poor blood oxygenation & circulation to brain tissues, dulling mental abilities

Irritations: White, acute, actively inflamed fibers showing energy consumed at a high rate

Pupil Configurations: Rarely is a pupil evenly round so position shows level of nervous tension


WHAT IS THE IRIDOLOGY CHART?

Dr Bernard Jensen (1908-2001) pioneered Iridology in the United States. He developed one of the most comprehensive iris charts showing location of the organs as they reflex in the iris of the eye.







The chart represents the placement of organs and tissues in the body, as would a map. The map's topography guides us very accurately over its surface. Each organ is identified in the chart and organs of importance are outlined so they are easily located. The chart represents the arrangement of the iris into it's corresponding locations as found in a normally organized body. It is possible to read tissue conditions that relate to the whole person being viewed. This way we are able to see the state of the whole body at once.

Organs in the right side of the body are seen in the right iris and organs in the left side are shown in the left eye. Organs in pairs like the kidneys are shown in both eyes. It has been said that weakness inherited from the mother's side of the family normally show up in the left eye and those inherited from the father's side in the right eye.

Iris diagnosis reveals overall body constitution; current levels of health of body organs and systems; inherited or acquired weaknesses and strengths in the body; illness, injury or inflammation in the body, what stage it is manifesting and where it is located; and it can tell if an individual has over or under activity in specific areas or organ systems of the body.
